I live less than a block from where the tornado hit. My dad was home alone, his ears popped, all the windows whistled and the train came in. Mor e like all the trees uprooted, snapped and or splintered along with many roofs. The house predominatly featured is at the end of the block. I always went there for large candy bars on Halloween, but now they have no top floor, let alone a roof. Everyone's been great here, and now we have power. So, thanks for all the support and for the city coming together. This made the tragedy much less so. I even saw a local pizza place handing out pizza to aid workers and others. Pretty awesome of them. Go say thanks to Aurelios. My website was not abandoned and despite the competition actually launching services/features I long awaited for (a couple years even) I press on and its looking a wee bit rosier than the last time I posted on the subject.

The protest tomorrow is not to be missed. I mean LJ is to be missed, I mean skipped hehe. So please no posting tomorrow, ok? Nothing at all, we will not be looked down upon by management here, we will not have services and features taken away without discourse. They have done a lot of dumb things in the past year, but this getting retarded.

Alright now we understand what LJ is for, now for why I feel annoyed. People do not review stories. They do not tear people apart, they do not discuss the story with the writer or each other. Even if there was an outlet for doing so they do not engage in anything. I'm a bit discouraged by this, not that my writing sucks, but in that people don't tell me sooner and discuss with me on how I may improve.

It has been my goal and I'd think is also the goal of many fanfic writers of improving in writing ability. Most of writing ability comes from actual writing. The other part is reading which includes these discussions and not just other fanfiction and other novels although they are important too and maybe more so. Regardless if someone has a problem with my writing far be it for me to repeat mistakes when I don't realize it was ever a mistake to begin with since there is no discussion there of. I'm not naming names, it is irrelevant. I could be guilty of not discussing things enough too, but I'm pretty amiable when it comes to enjoying stories. They can be pretty flawed before they bother me. I had ripped on one that was too arduous to read and sadly that story was discontinued. Having chatted with the person to encourage her to write, I realize it may be for a different reason. I still feel bad bout it. The review I gave her is a review I want people to give me.

"You are repeating concepts"
"You are telling not showing, thats bad form"
"I don't like the word 'because', but that's just me"
etc

I want a harsh review, I prefer it to having to be told I have a bad understanding of characters far after the fact you read the stories and even complimented them. I do not want the person who riled me up here or anywhere. You aren't wrong, only your methods. I want to be more productive than that. I want to discuss my shortcomings and my problems in my fanfiction. I hope this is understood well enough.
